Fact not Fiction: Krugman vs. Galbraith...er...vs. versa....

I guess there is not doubt who the editors of  The Economist favor, at least from the article's title, but hey....This is a great exchange and the comments add to it. Clik on the opening para here to read the whole thing because I can assure you that discussions of who should be taxed and why, an important question with any doubt, will soon take a back seat to $8.00/gal. gas and trade balances....Not to mention the Pareto Distribution and 'Complexity Economics', a subject you will notice Paul and James tap-dance around pretty effectively:

'Paul's worldview rests on the belief that useful implications for important questions of public policy can be derived, essentially from first principles, with the help of a well-structured logic. Well-structured deduction from metaphysical first principles is the Krugman forte.

I don't accept that much of use can be learned about policy in this way. When the world deviates from the principles, as it usually does, the simple lessons go astray. This is not a complaint against math. It is a complaint against indiscriminate application of the deductive method, sometimes called the Ricardian vice, to problems of human action. Mine is an old gripe against much of what professional economists do; not against science but against scientism, against the pretense of science. To combat it, I spend my research time wrestling with real-world data, and I spend much of my writing time warring against the policy ideas of aggressive, ahistorical deductivists.'

Whuh-oh...that bold by me....looks like James is gonna hand out some whup-ass for Paul. Actually, the whole thing is much more interesting than that.

Read it.

Here's a very interesting post from our blogroll associate Robert Oak.

I'ts all about  Social Security...yeah, yeah, I know your are holding your head in pain and resignation. Well, if you think you don't have an interest in the system your either a teenager strung out on Ayn Rand or a ReThug NutJob Economist. Since either are not really likely to be reading this....

I'll link to the parent post thru this paragraph. Do dig into the links all the way down to level 3 as they will give you some real food for thought:

'Now, there is a legitimate progressive objection to Obama's discussion of fixing Social Security by adjusting the cap: any talk of reforming Social Security inevitably plays into the hands of those out to privatize it by trumping up a phony crisis. But that hardly seems to be the point of the Clinton campaign flyer.

Too bad it wasn't. Clinton gets it: in the past she herself has warned that acting as if Social Security is in crisis is "a Republican trap."'

Please read the whole thing...links an all.

Not going to get angry about this....will not lose my temper....Nope, not gonna get angry....

but I am going to ask you to take action. It seems our 'Democrat' Party lawmakers can't even do that. Make laws that is without some outside help that is. Yep, the Telcos have stepped up to the plate to 'help' resolve the FISA crisis. I say send their CEOs and head legal counsel to the chokey. They all knew what they were doing and are still doing today was and is illegal. Totally illegal....

That's why they want a get out of jail card folks. And guess who's their to 'help' them 'help' the House. Our pals, our Democratic 'Leaderscum' Queen Pelosi and  her faithful sidekick Steney 'I love Money' Hoyer. Here's a link to tell Hoyer, 'Hell no!' on this. Here's one to the House and here's one to the Senate. Let 'em know how you feel. And, no, I don't care how polite you are these assclowns are obviously listening to the sound of big money and ya gotta really get fierce to be heard over that.

And as we approach the elections please remember that Sister Beezlebub, McSame and The Glass-Jawed Barry are not the only game in town. We've two very progressive candidates for Madame Speaker's job and frankly I can think of no better way to send a message than to give her the boot. That may not be possible, no polling exists as far as I know, but at the least we can send her a message. Something along the lines of, 'Shape up or Ship Out!'

Frankly, I'd like to see her go or lose her Speakership. She's been, as have many others in the Dem caucus, much more Republican than Democrat and that is not what the citizenry wants. Of that I am certain sure.

So, stay tuned. McSame vs. Whoevah! is not the only game in town.

Uh...Miss Nancy? Excuse me...yeah, I know you are very busy......

planning the next great big give away to your corporate pals, gonna be hard to top the farm bill that's for sure, but...well, you see...What with:

Impeachment of the table....

Another 178 Billion for Bush's excellent adventure....

No action on literally dozens of folks accused of everything from child rape to big time embezzlement to a guy changing legislation after it was sighed by your best pal Mr. Decider.....

Some have made up their minds like this lady:

That it's time for you to go. Go away where you can no longer damage the Democratic Party, no longer damage our nation, no longer damage our society.

As mah cousin Pat allu sez: 'Don't let the door  knob hit ya where the good Lord split ya!' on your way out.

No....The Party Never Stops...It Just Goes On and On and On and On....

And why should it not. If they need more money....

....in this office....

...they will just call downstairs and have more printed. And if you don't think lots of cocaine, high-dollar hookers, booze, private jets and yachts don't figure into this...

...yer just plain naive.

Have fun spendin' that $30.00 worth of gas tax savings you are maybe gonna get.

While the 'Boyz on the Blogz' rant and rave about Sister Beezlebub....

One blogger is turning out a level of commentary that you would think would be found in the NYT. Well, we all know why that's never gonna happen but here...

Here's some blogging as blogging ought to be. As T. Jefferson, of B. Franklin or S. Adams would have turned out if they lived today. Blogging so good that I, A.Citizen, confess to being slightly jealous. The opening paragraph:

'When historians and political scientists look back at this election, they will not primarily be concerned with who won. The phenomenon to be explained will be the unhinged attacks upon Hillary Clinton (Sister Beezlebub) from the Left.'

Please read the rest it's one of the most informative posts on why Clinton's have had so much trouble, yeah I know he should have kept his dick in his pants but JFK got away with a lot more and paid no price, with their narrative and what it means in our culture. It's all right here in: 'The Whiteness of the Whale' And yeah, she is referring to Melville. Eat your worm-infested heart out David Brooks.

Note: If you are not sure who the 'Boyz on the Blogz' are use teh Google or check my post: Censorship, The Committee of Three and a Warning from the Past.

The Thing that would not Die!

I'd be remiss if I did not report that BushCo. is apparently planning another push for Telco, and their own, immunity.

dday over at Hullabaloo has the latest. Here is the opening para:

'Digby is right, the news we're hearing about a possible deal on immunity definitely suggests that the Administration knows they're legally liable for spying on American citizens and they're desperate to squash any knowledge of it.

Now we learn today that the Bushies and the telcos have formed a partnership to try and get immunity nailed down.'

Click on thru the quote to read the rest. I am beginning to get a strong feeling that some in the Democratic caucus are or were a party to Bush's illegal activities. He's a smart enough thug to know that the best way to
immunize yourself is to get the police involved in your corruption. Why else would this keep coming up again and again if the Democrats were not just as nervous as Bush about going to jail for being involved in this.

This issue is not going away folks. You have spoken longly and loudly enough for me to say that I think this issue is the one that may help us destroy the hammerlock Corporate America has on our government. Our nation is a Fascist State make no mistake about it. We are in for a long struggle to change that and step one, two and three is gonna be: 'Taking out the Trash!'

Res Ipsa Loquitor....

Sgt. 1st Class David L. McDowell, 30, of Ramona, California died Tuesday in Afghanistan of "wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked using small arms fires." The San Diego Tribune reports, "He had been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq seven times and was a recipient of two Bronze stars and a Purple Heart."

Seven Tours...for Bush's and America's vanity; Sick. Disgusting. Here talk to these people. I didn't do this....And I will not be responsible for it!

Hillary Secures the Nomination....Senator Obama....Not so much....

You know, speaking solely for myself......I'm sick of Senator SnakeOil. Throw this JFK, MLK self-hating fool under the bus. Couple of reasons:

He'd have you believe that the Clinton's are racists. They white ain't they!

He has no clue foreign policy-wise.

He consistently uses Republican frames to push an agenda that has no place in the Democratic Party.

He's a liar.....documented many, many times.

He's totally ignorant of American Political history...wannna debate about his take on Reagan bring it on. I was there and Barry just get's it wrong.

He has zero, that's zero, chance of beating McSame in the GE. Electoral college analysis shows this to be the case today and really Rezko and Auchi are unlikely to help him win votes.

But...but....the GE is a long way away you assert. Well, yes it is but that just gives Senator 'Foot-in-Mouth' longer to do stupid shit like this:

David Axelrod on Hardball, a great place to followup the total clusterfuck that was Obama's appearance on FAUX NOISE:

He'll (Obama) invest in our infrastructure, which badly needs it. We know that. That's one of the reasons this diversion from the federal highway trust fund that Senator McCain and
Clinton have proposed makes no sense.

What's he talking about? Senator Clinton wants to seize the money Big Oil already owes us for past taxes they've not paid and levy a windfall profits tax to enable the Federal Government to remove the Federal
Gas Tax from gas and give the taxpayers and the economy a big, justifiable, progressive boost.

Obama doesn't want to.

Why? Well because he didn't think of it and it won't help him get elected. In fact, it just.....

Elected Hillary Clinton.
